Actually Subbuteo: "10 For You" with Paul Pearson "Kits For Flicks"!!

Hello!We are back with our Subbuteo interviews and today we gonna introduce you a great guy from UK! Let's get to meet Paul!

1)Who are you, what do you do, where are you from and how's your life related to Subbuteo? 

My name is Paul Pearson, I’m 44 years old And I live in Christchurch in the UK. My day job is in purchasing and my spare time is taken up by painting Subbuteo teams.

1)Chi Sei, cosa fai e perche' la tua vita e' correlata al Subbuteo ?

Mi chiamo Paul Pearson, ho 44 anni e vivo a Christchurch nel Regno Unito. Lavoro nel settore acquisti e nel tempo libero dipingo squadre di Subbuteo.

2)What's your first memory about Subbuteo ? (your first time)

My first memories of Subbuteo are playing in the early 80’s with my older brother. He kept his pitch on a board behind the sofa and I used to take it out and play when he wasn’t home. I was fascinated by the kits which is something that has stayed with me.

2)Qual e' il tuo primo ricordo del Subbuteo? (La tua prima volta)

I miei primi ricordi Subbuteo risalgono agli anni 80 giocando con mio fratello. Aveva il campo montato su una tavola ed era sempre piazzato dietro al sofa. Lo usavo ogni volta che lui non era in casa. Ero affascinato dai kits e questa cosa mi e' rimasta sino ad oggi.

3)Tell us something about your Subbuteo life and how your subbuteo art started.

I got back into Subbuteo a few years back and it was my girlfriend who suggested to me that I try painting a team. I was spending a bit too much on Subbuteo teams so it seemed like a good idea. I gave it a go and soon enough people were asking me to paint teams for them.

3)Di qualcosa riguardo la tua vita Subbuteo e come hai iniziato a creare squadre.

Sono tornato a seguire il Subbuteo da qualche anno ed e' stato grazie al consiglio della mia ragazza che ho iniziato a dipingere le mie squadre. Stavo spendendo un po' troppi soldi nel comprare Subbuteo dunque l'idea era alquanto sensata. Ci ho provato e molto presto le persone hanno iniziato a chiedermi di dipingere squadare per loro!

                   

4)Which one was the hardest team-kit you ever made ?  

The hardest for me was my Newcastle Utd 1997 away kit. It was my first paint and I had no idea on techniques. I just went with it and had a fairly good result.

4)Qual e' stata la squadra piu' difficile da creare?

Decisamente il Newcastle United 1997 2nd (fuori casa). La mia prima squadra e non avevo alcuna idea sulle tecniche di pittura e creazione. Ho solo seguito il mio istinto ed il risultato fu molto buono.

5)Tell us the hardest team you want to try to make in the future! 

The one team I really want to do one day is the Belgium 1984 home Kit. I have the white away Subbuteo team and it’s a classic but they never produced the home so I’d like that one.

5)Di qual e' la squadra piu' difficile che vorrai provare a creare in futuro!

Quella che davvero voglio ricreare un giorno e' il Belgio 1984 prima maglia. Ho la bianca originale Subbuteo (fuori casa) ed e' una classica ma non hanno mai prodotto la prima maglia dunque mi piacerebbe farla. 

6)What's your favourite team ?

I have been a Newcastle Utd supporter all my life. My father was born and bred there so it’s in my blood.

6)Qual e' la tua squadra preferita ?

Sono stato un tifoso del Newcastle per tutta la mia vita. Mio padre e' nato e cresciuto li dunque e' nel mio sangue.

7)How do you see the Subbuteo World in 5/10 years from now?

Subbuteo has really taken off again in the past few years and even more during lockdown. The new sets could have a positive effect but in this day and age of PlayStation’s it’s more down to us to educate our kids in the beautiful game.

7)Come vedi il mondo Subbuteo nei prossimi 5/10 anni ?

Il Subbuteo e' davvero tornato alla ribalta in questi anni ed ancora di piu' durante questo lockdown. I nuovi set potranno avere un effetto positivo ma, in questi tempi tecnologici e dell'era Play Station, spettera' a noi educare i nostri figlio a questo gioco stupendo.

                                                                          
        

8)What do you think of Subbuteo associations like FISTF,WASPA,LNS, etc. ?

I don’t really get involved with the organisations. I’ve never been good enough to play professionally and have only ever played for fun. They have their place in the game and it’s a personal choice whether you join them.

8)Cosa pensi delle associazioni Subbuteo come FISTF,WASPA,LNS,etc. ?

Non sono invischiato con alcun tipo di associazione. Non sono stato mai cosi' bravo da giocare a livello professionale ed ho sempre e solo giocato per puro divertimento. Queste hanno il loro posto e compito nel gioco ed e' una scelta personale decidere se farne parte o meno.

What’s my all time favorite kit?

Denmark 1986 away kit. Again it’s one that Subbuteo never produced and really should have. I’d love to get my hands on a real shirt but they are extremely rare.

Qual e' la tua divisa preferita in assoluto ?

La Danimarca seconda maglia del 1986. Anche questa non e' mai stata prodotta dalla Subbuteo ed credo che avrebbero dovuto. Mi piacerebbe mettere le mani su una maglietta vera di quelle ma sono estremamente rare.
