LAZIO-NOVARA= 4-1  Luis Alberto 12',Ciro Immobile 20' and 35',Sergej Milinkovic-Savic 45'+3',Umberto Eusepi 49'(PEN)

A sort of training match for Lazio especially in the first half  in which the Simone Inzaghi team scored all the goals indeed. The Biancocelesti's coach did want to risk at all putting on the pitch the best team possible and you can tell. A great way to honour the competition and to secure a spot in the Quarter Finals. Very solid match first part of the match then probably Ciro Immobile and company slowed down a bit in order not to waste too many energies. Fantastic the save by Strakosha at the beginning of the match on Eusepi which could have changed everything since the teams were on the 0-0.

SAMPDORIA-MILAN=0-0 (0-2 a.e.t) Patrick Cutrone 102' and 108'

The Blucerchiati definitely played way better than Milan saved only by a tremendous Pepe Reina who did few miracles in this match. Great expectations for the first match of Paqueta which wasn't that bad after all considering he just got Milanello. The Giampaolo's players had the match under control for a very long time but Milan managed to be very dangerous in few occasions but Higuain and company squandered all the chances they had. El Pipita missed another chance to leave a mark on the match. Not Cutrone. He always makes it. He's the one who saved Milan once again. Got on the pitch at the end of the second half in order to face the Extra Time. The kid scores the first goal in the first E.T. half and kills the match with a fantastic lob superbly assisted by Calhanoglu - who did the only good thing in the whole match in this occasion. Finally a good night for Rino Gattuso after a lot of talks about him and the club. Probably undeserved loss for Sampdoria but Reina was too good tonight leaving no chances of scoring to Kownacki,Quagliarella,Caprari,Saponara. There are some good things to take out of  this match for them anyway. Welcome back to Andrea Conti, who came back playing an official match and giving the assist to Cutrone for the first goal!

BOLOGNA-JUVENTUS=0-2  Federico Bernardeschi 9',Moise Kean 49'.

The Filippo Inzaghi team did probably their best but they never had a chance against a Juventus that was on the pitch even without Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo -both were sitting on the bench. As you know the "second line" of Juventus would play First Team in any other Italian Serie A team and more. Plus the Rossoblu goalkeeper wasn't in a great shape. The poor A.Da Costa made many mistakes. Incredible the one in the Bernardeschi 's goal action after not even 10 minutes. What a nightmare start for the host. Juventus never risked that much for the entire match even if you could see some efforts from the new Bologna's signings Soriano and Sansone. Even Dijks was trying all he could. But when Kean scored once again in the second half you could tell the match was over. A lot to work for Pippo Inzaghi who's definitely waiting some more help from the January Transfer Market's window. Good luck. Juventus's always hungry. Mister Allegri very satisfied to get into Quarter Finals.

TORINO-FIORENTINA=0-2  Federico Chiesa 87'and 90'+2'.

Let's say that the result is a lie. Torino probably deserved to win but in this game you get victories only scoring goals and the Mazzarri team just couldn't make even one. Il Gallo Belotti and Iago Falque did their best probably but Lafont and their lack of precision did the rest. Good occasions also for De Silvestri but it wasn't enough. The first half was pretty boring and Fiorentina did something good with Muriel -debut match wearing the Viola shirt- but the guy still needs time. In the second half Torino pressed the Viola in their area for a very long time until the Cholito -got in substituting Muriel- did a huge powerful run from the midfield line until the Granata box, stopped , gained the space for a shot and made it. Great save by Sirigu but Chiesa was there ready to shot the ball in for the 0-1! The keeper had a very good match till that point. Another classic counter attack gave the 0-2 for Pioli! Again Chiesa did a solo run on the right wing before anticipating Sirigu's move with a great change of foot and low shot that went behind the keeper. Torino definitely deserved much more than that. Goalless Granata.

INTER-BENEVENTO=6-2  Mauro Icardi 3'(PEN),Antonio Candreva 7'and 90'+5',Dalbert 45'+1',Lautaro Martinez 48'and 66',Roberto Insigne 58',Filippo Bandinelli 74'.

There is not really much to say here but if Antei didn't do a ingenue foul on Candreva in the penalty box (Icardi scored) practically after one minute probably then match would have gone different. Too heavy for Benevento to get a goal so early indeed Candreva doubled after 5 minutes. Despite the result the Serie B team didn't play badly at all and actually not only scored 2 goals but also had several occasions saved by Padelli. The Spalletti's guys are just from another category and that was the result explained. A lot of positive notes for both coaches for the heavy upcoming 2019 ahead! Smiles for Lautaro Martinez who scored twice and starting to give some thought to his mister too. Well done Pazza Inter!

NAPOLI-SASSUOLO=2-0 Arkadiusz Milik 15',Fabian Ruiz 74'.

The Partenopei did a good victory against a very good Sassuolo. Lucky the first goal by Milik who found the ball going on his chest involuntarily and getting into the goal behind Pegolo. Nice touches by both teams with great skilled players on the pitch like Callejon,Kevin Prince Boateng,Ounas,Insigne,Sensi. Disallowed a goal by Locatelli. It was a good call because in the occasion of his first shot during the same action he definitely stopped the ball using part of his arm. The VAR did a good job there. Fabian Ruiz killed the match 15 minutes before the end of the match. Sassuolo could have scored at least a goal that could have opened the match again but they squandered the chances they had. Classic Ancelotti victory style.

CAGLIARI-ATALANTA=0-2  Duvan Zapata 88',Mario Pasalic 90'+3'.

It has been a battle on the field! A match with great intensity deservedly won by Gasperini's Atalanta even if Cagliari had a very good game but they still have the problem of scoring goals with continuity. A problem that surely doesn't touch the Bergamaschi anymore since Duvan Zapata keeps banging like there is no tomorrow! We thought the Sardi were pushing too much in the first half using a lot of energies indeed in the last 5 minutes of the match they were dead and Atalanta got them! Cragno saved several attempts anyway on Papu Gomez, Zapata and Ilicic who did his best to leave a mark on the match but he has been very unlucky and not precise as well. Maran can't be satisfied by the match especially considering Pavoletti's injury which won't be too severe hopefully for him. Quarter Finals against Juventus now for Gasperini.Exactly what they wanted! Some revenge in plan? we'll see!

ROMA-VIRTUS ENTELLA=4-0  Patrick Schick 1'and 47',Ivan Marcano 45'+2',Javier Pastore 74'.

Entella didn't start that bad actually but definitely the back heel goal by Schick after 25 seconds definitely made it kind of impossible for Virtus Entella to even think of getting a positive result in this match. Roma's players were definitely too much to handle for the guests that actually had few very important chances to score but Olsen has been always ready when needed. Eusebio Di Francesco can be happy about the goals scorers. They all really needed some sort of morale boost.

QUARTER FINALS(1/30)
