Hello Subbuteo lovers! We are kinda sure you gonna love this guy from UK!!! The first picture speaks for itself but let's discover together a little bit more about David:
1)Who are you, what
do you do, where are you from and how's your life related to Subbuteo?
Im Dave and I live in a village in the north west of England
called Norden. I have been in Banking since leaving school in 1988. I first
started with Subbuteo when my parents bought me the Club Edition around
1976/77. I played Subbuteo as a kid in the late 70’s/early eighties but since
the boom of video games around 1983 when I got a ZX Spectrum Subbuteo pretty
much retired to the loft! I always wanted every team from the 1980 catalogue
which inspired me 9 years ago to start collecting and frame them. I had a dual
hobby and started making a similar display for the World Cup balls but shortly
after decided to sell the odd ball to fund the purchase of heavyweight spares.
I still collect heavyweight spares as probably 70 of the 324 are likely to be
repaints! I am currently in the process of doing a similar display for all the
machine painted lightweights.

Mi chiamo Dave e vivo in un paese nel nord ovest dell'Inghilterra, chiamato Norden. Ho lavorato in banca da quando ho finito la scuola nel 1988. Iniziai con il Subbuteo nel 1976/77 quando i miei genitori mi comprarono la Club Edition. Ho giocato a Subbuteo da bimbo, nella fine degli anni 70' ed inizio degli 80', ma l'esplosione dei videogames del 1983, che mi porto' ad acquistare uno ZX Spectrum, praticamente termino'la mia esperienza Subbuteo, che fini' direttamente in soffitta. Ho sempre voluto tutte le squadre del catalogo del 1980. Questo mi spins, 9 anni fa,sd iniziare a collezionarle ed incorniciarle. Avevo una sorta di doppio hobby in quanto iniziai a creare una sorta di bacheca anche dei palloni dei Mondiali ma dopo un po' decisi di venderne molti per finanziare l'acquisto di spares HW. Colleziono ancora HW spares , probabilmente 70 dei 324 sono ri-dipinte. Al momento sto pensando ad un progetto-bacheca simile, ma usando spares LW MP.

9 years of collecting has got me to where I am today, still
searching for those American and South American spares but I am very wary who I
purchase from. People like Ian Brown, Jon Rosten and Adam Kosier have helped me

9 anni di collezionismo mi hanno portato al punto in cui sono adesso. Sono ancora alla ricerca di alcuni spares delle squadre americane e Sud Americane ma sono molto diffidente dei venditori. Ho ricevuto un grande aiuto da persone come Ian Brown, Jon Rosten ed Adam Kosier.

Simply a collector of spares and make replica ball. The BBC

favourite team ?
I support Manchester
United but my favourite spare that I always wanted as a kid was Boavista ref
273. Just thought it was so different in the catalogues to every other Team

Tifo Manchester United ma il mio Spare preferito e che ho sempre voluto sin da quando ero bambino , e' certamente il ref.273 BOAVISTA! L'ho sempre trovato cosi' diverso rispetto a tutti gli altri del catalogo!
7)How do you see the
Subbuteo World in 5/10 years from now?
I think COVID 19 has
kicked started this type of game and see these types of games coming back a lot
more as my generation have kids they will reminisce and play the old games from
the 70’s.

Penso che il COVID 19 ha involontariamente riportato alla luce molti di questi giochi, e molte persone della mia generazione che adesso hanno bambini, certamente contribuiranno a mantenere anche il Subbuteo in vita.

thoughts on Subbuteo Fairs?
Live them, great place to meet fellow collectors and get
advice and life stories about Subbuteo. I attend the one near Sheffield every 6
months and I always pick up a few nice buys on the day.
8)Cosa pensi delle fiere Subbuteo?
Le vivo con entusiasmo, una grande luogo di incontro per incontrari compagni collezionisti ed avere anche suggerimenti e due chiacchiere sul Subbuteo. Vado sempre a quella di Sheffield, ogni 6 mesi, e mi ritrovo sempre a comprare alcuni pezzi !

project?
Full size Astropich mounted on a frame just like the
heavyweight display with around 900 lightweight machine painted spares
displayed! Then I retire!
