Hello Subbuteo Lovers! We love to explore Passionate people from all over the world , as you know and today we are getting an interesting person from Ukraine !!
1)Who are you, what do you do, where are you from and how's
your life related to Subbuteo?
My name is Thomas Ponté. I'm French and 37 years old. I'm
French teacher for foreigner people and I'm currently living in Odessa in
Ukraine for one year.
I'm from Paris and I lived also in Amiens for 5 years. I'm
table football player since 29 years.
2)What's your first memory about Subbuteo ? (your first
time)
I do distinction between Subbuteo and table football.
Subbuteo for me is the hobby (as you can know about history of this game ;-) )
and table football is for competition.
I received a Subbuteo box at Christmas when I was 7 and I
was lucky to know just next year that there was a club in my city of
Issy-les-Moulineaux.
Ricevetti un box Subbuteo per Natale quando avevo 7 anni e fui fortunato a scoprire un club proprio l'anno successivo, nella mia citta Issy-Les-Molineaux.
3)Tell us something about your Subbuteo Club.
Now I'm playing for the French club of Celtic Combourg CFT
in Britain. I played before FTC Issy-les-Moulineaux during 27 years from which
I continue to be part of board.
4)What do you think about FISTF and WASPA circuits? Are you
part of them ? Did you ever take part in official tournaments ?If Yes, which
ones?
I know difficulties of FISTF to assemble players in the
world with limited means. I think FISTF
should be more professional and member's nations should be payed more for that.
WASPA is only a project managed by Vincent Coppenolle. I
have friendship for him and respect for what he did and does for table football
but WASPA has any future because he is alone to care about.
I took part of lots of tournament in France and Europe but
never outside.
5)Are you a Subbuteo Player? A Collector? both ?
As I said I"m table football player. I not really
collector even if I had lots of Subbuteo products. My proudness is one I have
found in flea market in Amiens : first Subbuteo box sold in France in 1960's.
5)Sei un giocatore di Subbuteo? Collezionista? entrambi?
6)What's your favourite team ? Which one is the rarest team(If you collect)?
I'm fan of two French football teams : AJ Auxerre and
Amiens SC. To be honnest I don't care about international football even if I
can watch sometimes some games. Now I asked to one of my friend to paint my
favorite teams.
7)How do you see the Subbuteo/Table Football world in the
next 5/10 years ?
Subbuteo did the most difficult ; survive from the last 20
years and coming of internet. Then I think we can plan for future now. Subbuteo
NEEDS to improve their bases and present
what is for them a toy as a game.
For table football, I believe it should be presented to 40
years people who start to stop physical sports but who want to contunue
competitions. It's take too much energy to try to attract children. Children
will come with their parents to the game.
8)Positive and negative aspects about Subbuteo?
If table football and Subbuteo still to exist it's because
it proposes something that you can't find in any other game. I have tried a lot
of different football games and anyone is so near as Subbuteo. An other
possibility it's to propose Subbuteo for other sports as it was in the past as
Rugby but also as ice hockey, hand-ball, basket-ball...
One negative thing is that we can think what we want but
table football or Subbuteo will stay for ever a game of big children. We never
could change this mind in public heads... because I think it's one part of
reality.

10)Make yourself a question and give us an answer.
and what's about table football in Ukraine ?
Very difficult. There is one player in Kiev (500km from
Odessa) and one group of players in Bucarest in Roumanie (600km). I am triying
to present game to new players and hope to grow a club in next years.
