Two very strange Champions League day! The first one saw two goalless matches despite the many occasions created by both teams and probably some pinch of luck and fear as well. This competition is becoming too important for the teams -economically speaking. The Klopp's teams didn't manage to score a goal and they actually risked to get one too but it would have been underserved. Liverpool had some good chances with Salah and Mane' just this time the ball didn't get it. Same for Barcelona which will have to face Lyon at home in the second leg so definitely have best chances to get the CL Quarter Finals but be careful not to get the away goal that could complicate things. Hopefully for them Messi will be fresher by then. Liverpool will have to go to Germany with the intention of scoring one goal but they definitely complicated their path. They should have won at home.
Great come back in 10 men for Manchester City. Two penalty kicks conceded by the referee and by the VAR - finally used in the CL - a red card to Otamendi when the result was 2-1 for the Germans and then the great last 5 minutes. Superb set piece by Sane'(2-2) and last second ball threw forward and reaching Sterling who stopped the ball brought it on foot and shot precisely anticipating the keeper intervention (2-3). Last breath victory that practically put on safety the qualification.
Incredible but not that unexpected 2-0 victory by Diego Simeone over Allegri. If you closely follow they Italian Serie A you know that Juventus doesn't play as well as their points will make you think. The Italian league is becoming very slow and keeps losing interest world wide. When you face teams like Atletico Madrid you realise how different things are. The Bianconeri had practically only one big chance with Cristiano Ronaldo on free kick. The rest was a complete defeat. The Spanish were superior on everything, got a goal disallowed by VAR and had several chances with Griezmann -who also got a bar thanks to a great deflection by Szczesny- and Diego Costa who missed couple of unbelievable chances. Bonucci,Chiellini and De Sciglio were a disaster and Mandzukic and Dybala looked too normal as players. The soon to be Inter player and Spanish captain Diego Godin killed the match solving a chaotic action in the area at 83'(2-0). The 1-0 was scored by Jose Jimenez at 78'. Widely deserved victory that will take a sort of miracle to Juventus for a come back. If thry won't get the qualification they will probably face "inquest" by everyone and also found themselves in a very uncomfortable situation in terms of earnings. Good luck!
